1 John 5:13-15 NIV
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
Apostle John wrote to the believers of Jesus Christ , they had to stay away from sins and to keep themselves from idols. They had to have assurance of eternal life. During that time, there were false prophets, false teachers who were spreading those teaching different from the teaching of the Bible. They created confusion among Christians on their faith in Jesus Christ. “We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.” (1 John 5:18 NIV). Those who live and adhere to the will of God do not sin, they pray with confidence. Their prayers will be answered. Genuine believers of Jesus Christ have strong and infallible faith. They come to the Lord with confidence, they know that whatever they ask, God will give them. They have peace and comfort.
In this date and age, whether Christian or not-yet Christian community, people hold up the banner of freedom but actually promoting individualism, inciting people to do things which are not pleasing to God. Blind people from the teaching from God’s word, challenge people on the faith of God and the submission to God. These temptations and challenges are the same as the time of apostle John. Christians should be sober and alert, stay away from sins and keep yourself from idols. Be sensitive to God’s teaching and leading. Most importantly, pour out your heart to God and pray with confidence. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
