Titus 1:13-16 NIV  To Be Holy

“This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth. To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.”

Paul sent Titus to Crete to reorganize the elders of the church, to correct the false teachings on the truth. “Because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach” (1:11b)  “This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.“  Those who claimed that they knew God, however, they did not have God in their life. Their actions denied Jesus Christ was their Lord and Savior. Titus needed to rebuke them sharply, so that they could repent and return to the Lord.

Among the church leaders today, there are some who are self-centered, they turn to their own ways. They criticize and put the load on brothers and sisters, but they themselves are talkers without actions or examples. Church leaders have influences. We have to examine ourselves, love God and love people. We have to safeguard ourselves on the way we talk and the way we act, lest we become the stumbling block to or misleading our brothers and sisters. May God help us and protect us, have the desire to be gentle and humble to walk with God. God will lead us to have a life with purity that we can serve Him more faithfully.
