Luke 24:45-49 NIV Repentance and Forgiveness
“Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, ”This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.””
After resurrection, Jesus came and stood in the midst of His disciples, Jesus talked to them. “He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.” He also told them, “repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” The disciples had to carry on the mission, preach the good news to all nations. The good news is that people need to repent, receive the forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ.
Before the ascension of Jesus Christ, He gave commission to his disciples, it was very specific. We are saved by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we became children of God. We should live out our life with a mission. Jesus has already told us what our mission is: to ask people to repent from sins and to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We are sinners who are saved by God’s grace. We can testify the life changing mighty power of God. May God’s help us to live our life with thanksgiving, with repentance and with forgiveness.
