James 1:22-25 NIV Put into Action
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”
“Practice what we learnt” is a good reminder from our senior wisemen. We can put what we have learnt in good use, it demonstrates that we understand and the knowledge or skills are really ours. The followers of Jesus Christ have listened to the word of God so many times. James reminded us that we need to put the word of God into practice. For those who only listen, but do not do what the word of God says, they are deceiving themselves, they do not reap the benefit of it.
When doing according to the word of God, people can enjoy God’s blessings, enjoy the God given true freedom. The word becomes part of their life, other people can see the Godly life, because Christ is in you. It is the important element in our journey to spiritual maturity. Practicing the word of God does strength our faith, we will be more sober and alert. “They will be blessed in what they do.”
