Sharing a devotional with you from Psalm 96
Psalm 96 is all about praising God with song, and proclaiming his Greatness. Also the heavens and the earth rejoice because of how great God is. Verses 1-3 is talking about singing praises to God and declaring His salvation for people. How often do we praise and thank god for what he has done for us? Have we sung with all our hearts as David has in this psalm? David in the midst of all his trials and stresses that he has had to face chose to continue to praise God for who he is and what he has done. David reminds us even the earth rejoices because God is so great! To declare is to say something in an emphatic manner meaning to say it with confidence and assurance that God is good and worthy to be praised.
Over the last 2 years a lot has happened in the world which has been really hard for a lot of people. We may have lost people to Covid or other illnesses, we may have felt the weight of racial conflicts, rumours of war, and actually see it happen. There have been a lot of things that have been hard. However are there things that you can praise God for today? How have you seen God move in the past? Can you think of how God has brought you through to where you are today? Singing and Praising God changes our perspective and our thoughts and feelings as we look to the one who has everything in his hands and who is sovereign. Friends may we praise God because he is good and he wants our praise. Praise the Lord!
