Hi everyone,

Sharing a devotional with you from Luke 24:13-49 – Power of The Word

In this particular passage, I noticed how Jesus explained the Scriptures twice. Once to Cleopas and friend on the road to Emmaus, and the other time when Jesus appears to His disciples. On both occasions as we read further, it talks about how their eyes (verse 31) and minds (verse 45) were opened and they finally understood and saw the truth. We have to understand that these were dark times for the followers of Jesus. They were scared, lost and confused because Jesus was just crucified a few days earlier. They didn’t understand. Did you notice what Jesus did on both occasions to help His followers understand what’s happening? When they were confused, Jesus uses Scripture as the basis and foundation for truth. Jesus uses Scripture to help them understand the very will of God. Once they were able to finally understand, the truth of God set them free. God’s word is true and powerful.

In the same way, I believe Scripture still has the same power today. Whenever we doubt and may not understand certain things, we can also go back to Scripture because God’s word is truth. The ever changing world with her values may confuse and lead many astray. However, we can hold on to Scripture’s truth so that no matter what we may encounter, we will always stand on the solid foundation found only in Christ Jesus. This is the hope and the joy we have in trusting God’s word. May God’s word open your eyes and minds today so that you’ll come to a better understanding of God’s glorious will!

Blessings,

Kelsey
