Titus 3:8-11 NIV  Live a Godly Life

“This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.”

Paul encouraged Titus to remind people to live up to their social responsibilities, with obedience, gentle and peace, but avoid foolish controversies and argument. In fact, Paul and the believers did the unprofitable and useless things before, but God saved them, their life was changed. They have been transformed. With Christ in their life, they could “devote themselves to doing what is right.” They should not cause any division or accompany those divisive people.

We have met many self-righteous and divisive people. We should not go with them nor being influenced by them. We should intentionally to be sober and alert. We are no better than others, but because the mercy and grace of our Lord, we are sinners who has been saved by the grace of God. We have transformed life and restored our relationship with God. We should live out a Godly life, being humble and gentle. “Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.” (Titus 3:14 NIV)
