James 1:19-21 NIV Learn to listen More

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.”

James reminded people that God’s provision is always abundant and it will not change. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” (1:17)  There are transformation in people’s life.  “He chose to give us birth through the word of truth.” (1:18)  Christians know it. In reality, people has to pay attention that we have to take the truth seriously, the truth is the word “which can save you.” People need to “get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent”.  With these, people do not become angry easily, they will listen more and speak with care. God will be pleased.

We have the knowledge of God’s abundant grace. We know that life can be changed, we can have abundant life. We have to live out our conviction intentionally. We have to safe guard how we speak, we have to do things with gentle and humble heart, control our emotion, not easily angered. We learn to listen, even taking criticism. These are great testimonies, facilitate good relationship building. God knows what we are facing. God understands our limitation. God gives us strength. God’s grace is always sufficient. It can be done.
