Hi Everyone,

Sharing a devotion with you from John 7:37-39: On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)

When we look at the promise Jesus gave to us that anyone who believes in me may come and drink, referring to Living water from chapter 4 as Jesus is talking to the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus tells her that she will have Living Water and that the Living water will not run out. Jesus is talking about in the belly of your most inner being that longs for God Jesus is promising the Holy Spirit to those among Him. Have we been Longing for that Living Water in us that will flow from the heart?

God is good, so we don’t need to look elsewhere. Tim Chester presents 4 truths of who God is and how out of that we can find our identity and what we are to do. If God is Living Water, why then do we look for other things to satisfy us but it’s never really enough? That’s because only Jesus can satisfy our deepest longings and we are created for that deep longing for Christ in us. When we are looking and going to other things that may bring us happiness or filling the space that Jesus wants to fill, we need to repent of that and turn back to God who sustains us and who can give us what we truly need. When we look elsewhere it causes us to stop and reflect in our circumstances if God is good enough to help us through and if he is going to carry us. Friends let’s look to Jesus who gives us Living water that flows from Him into us, so that we can pour out onto others. May we taste and see that the Lord is Good so we do not need to look elsewhere!

Blessings,

Esther
