Hi Everyone,

Sharing a devotional with you from Jeremiah 9:23-24

This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

This passage is a great reminder for us from Jeremiah who was speaking on behalf of God to the Israelites, it is not that it is bad to boast but what we boast in. As God says do not boast about earthly things but boast of the God and who he is. He is worthy to be praised and to be boasted about to others as he is a good God who shows us his kindness, justice and righteousness.

As we look at our own lives are there things that we boast about that is about ourselves and the things we give glory to? or are we more focused on giving glory to who God is? This is not easy to do as we can look inwards at times and see how our abilities and glorify that instead of glorifying the one who gave us those abilities or gifts. This is a great reminder for us that it is not about the earthly things that is important which Jeremiah writes as wisdom, being strong, or being rich, but to boast that they know The Father. May we boast about God and how He is good and worthy to be praised! Friends let us take our eyes off ourselves and place them on God as we share the Good News with those we encounter.

Blessings,

Esther
