Hi Everyone.

Sharing a devotional from Hebrews 11:1-3

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

In this passage it gives us a definition of what faith is. It is the confidence for what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Faith is needed when we cannot see or touch but we hope for something. Faith is the evidence of what we are hoping for and longing to see. The Author then brings in how People in the Old Testament were commended for their faith when they could not see what was happening in the physical world but still trusted, relied, and believed that God was going to come through for them. We know that this world is not only physical and faith gives us understanding that things are beyond what we see with our eyes. We did not see the creation of the world but we have faith that it is what scripture says. At the time of the Book of Hebrews the scholars believed that the word already had matter and it was an act of God to put it together. However this is what scripture says about creation what is seen was not made of what was visible.

Do we have faith in what her hope for and in the assurance for what we do not see? It is not easy as life throws thing at us but who are we trusting in, relying on? Are we going to do it out of our own strength and not have faith that God will carry us through? Look back on scripture and see all the people who had faith and be encouraged that even the most ordinary people can have faith and to hope! Do we have Confident Faith?

Blessings.
