Philemon 1:12-14 NIV Be Respectful

“I am sending him—who is my very heart—back to you. I would have liked to keep him with me so that he could take your place in helping me while I am in chains for the gospel. But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that any favor you do would not seem forced but would be voluntary.”

Onesimus was a slave, he then accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, he was a body of Christ. Paul had treated him as his son. Although Paul wanted Onesimus to stay and serve Him, Paul wanted to have Philemon’s consent first. Paul respected Philemon. More importantly, Paul would like Philemon to do it without being forced but voluntary.

When we make our decisions, we analyze and calculate, We tend to be more analytical, not so much on relationship. For the sake of or benefit of the other, we should look into the affection more. This will make us more aware of being considerate and respectful. Even if we have to suffer or sacrifice, we are willing to do it. May God help us to practice these willingly, not being forced, buy voluntary.
