Hi everyone,
Wanted to share a devotional with you from 1 Kings 7:1 – Who do we Prioritize?
Solomon’s Palace took 13 years of construction to complete versus the 7 years for the construction of the Temple of God. Even though God’s Temple was glorious, it took Solomon almost twice as much time to build His own palace. Solomon would put more time, energy, effort and resources into his own palace more than he would offer it to the LORD. In this scenario, Solomon had put himself first over the LORD. Solomon’s action revealed the condition of his heart where he became first and the LORD second.
Often times, that’s how we treat the LORD too. We focus on ourselves more than we would offer it to God. As I read this, I was reflecting who I would prioritize first. Would I prioritize the LORD first or myself? Sad to say, I do admit at times I would put myself first over what I would offer to Jesus. May God be gracious and merciful as He guards our hearts so we won’t fall astray as Solomon did. The more we put ourselves first over the LORD will lead us further and further away from God. This tug-of-war between who to prioritize is a difficult battle. We cannot serve two masters. We cannot serve both the LORD and ourselves at the same time. When we try to do that, there will always be one that will overshadow the other. May God give us the love and the passion for His name more than anything else in this life.
Blessings,
Kelsey
