Sharing a devotional with you from 1 Kings 21: The Mercy of God
Even though Ahab did what was evil in the eyes of the LORD by murdering Naboth, after hearing what God is going to do with him and his descendants, Ahab repented by humbling himself. This is definitely a rare sight among the kings of Judah. When Ahab humbled himself before God, God had mercy on Him. Despite how wicked Ahab acted, God made sure that what’s about to happen, the consequences of his actions will not happen during his lifetime. Even God could have punished Ahab right then and there, it would have been perfectly just for God to do that. However, God chose to show mercy. This reminds us of how loving and merciful our God is when we humble before Him. I am glad that despite how sinful and evil we acted, God still gave us Jesus and was merciful towards us. May we continue to remember that so that His kindness will lead us to repentance.
