Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a devotion with you from Psalm 33:20-22.
20 We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. 22 Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.
Earlier in this chapter David speaks of God’s ability to create and bring order to the world. He is Lord over all creation, Lord who loves, and Lord who we can put our hope in. How many times do we realize the leaves that are changing colours are created by God or the birds that are flying south are doing that what God designed them to do? When we look at the things in this world we see God’s hand on so much of the world as God put each piece in its place to work in together. When we see all these things not only does God care for the things of this world He cares for us! Not only did He create the things of this world He cares for it too.
He is our hope, help, and shield! Do we put our hope on things of the world like the security of finances, or the heath that we have? What would happen if we lose those things, would we lose faith because of those things? We tend to hope on things that we can see or that are significant to us. Hope is a word that we have heard many times, but in this it context it is a trust that we have in God that He is our help and shield. We need to trust and hold onto the truth of who God is and what He has said through Scripture. It is only in Christ that we find our help and shield. He is willing and wanting us to call for Him for help and He will come to our rescue to protect us as a father does for their Child. In return we can ask for his unfailing love that the Father gives as he gives generously to His children. Our eyes and our hopes must be on the Lord as things of this world may fade away and can disappoint us. May we put our hope in the Lord as He is our good good Father!
