Hi Everyone,

Sharing a devotional with you from Psalm 13

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.

I wonder if you’ve ever felt this before where you are asking how long Lord? Will you forget me forever? I know I have, and in seasons where we may not see or feel Jesus move it is when we need to press into Him even more. Winter is a long here where the day is only a few hours and the sun goes down early. The temperature is frigid most of the time. Winter can be a hard season for some of us. I remember reading from Mark Buchanan’s book Spiritual Rhythms where he talks about seasons of the soul. One of the seasons is winter and in that season our soul feel dry and far from God. We can know that God is good however what we are experiencing and what we know are not lined up with each other.

When we are in a season of winter in our soul we need others around us to remind us that God is on our side and that He is there for us. Just like Psalm 13 in seasons of winter we may question where God is and what is he doing in this season. This is when we need to ask that God gives us the eyes to see the truth of where He is in our situation. It is important to trust in Jesus’ unfailing love in a season of Winter when we feel that He is far. As well one of the great things about a season of winter is that it can make us rely on God and those around us who want to journey alongside of us in our faith. In seasons of winter is when we need to have people stand with us and remind us to look to Jesus! May we in seasons of winter be reminded that Jesus is there with us and that there are people who are willing and want to walk with us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus and rejoice in His Salvation!
