Romans 14:17-21 NIV
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.”

God gives us freedom. We can decide what to do and what not to do. Those who refrain from doing things that are harmful to himself or to others will be blessed.

Paul reminded that Christians should love one another. In Chapter 14 in the Book of Romans, Paul explicitly told Christians not to judge people based on food, habits or form of life. People should examine themselves to see if their way of life was build up people or hinder people. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (14:17a) God’s will has been expressed to us clearly. “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8 NIV)God examines our heart within. Most importantly, if we have Jesus Christ in our life, we think of others first. Whatever is beneficial to others, we will do it. “It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.” (14:21)

It is so easy for us to be judgmental. When people do not perform as you expected, you will be annoyed, or even make a judgement call on their action. 1 Corinthians chapter 13 tells us that love is not self-seeking, and love keeps no record of wrongs. We need to practice building up others, mindful of our behaviors. Do not let our habits of behavior to be the stumbling blocks. There are times that our actions may not be wrong. However, if these expression may cause some confusion or misunderstanding, it is wise not to do them.
