2 Thessalonians 3:10-13 NIV

“For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.”

The believers of the church of Thessalonica followed the teaching by apostle Paul, they knew the second coming of Jesus Christ. Some of them were so excited and waiting. However, they decided not to do anything, they were just waiting for the return of Jesus Christ. “We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies.” Paul had to correct their wrong concept. Paul reminded them that nobody knew when was the time of that day. People still needed to work, to live and to carry out the great commission. “And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.”

As for us today, we long for the return of Jesus Christ as well. We need to live our live with positive impact, to live a missional life. While we are still here, we must live out the Christ-centered life, being humble and gentle, with love and forgiveness. These are the testimonies that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Lord of life. Our lifestyle can attract people to know the saving grace through Jesus Christ. Let’s get up and not wasting time, do whatever is good.
