Sharing a devotional with you from Mark 13 – Keep Watch!
In this chapter, Jesus begins to reveal to His disciples the secrets of the end times. The world will grow cold and Christians will be persecuted for their faith. In fact, in many parts of the world is already happening. However, it is also during persecution times, the power of God works powerfully through His Church. Miraculously, churches grow especially fast during persecution times. It is the grace and power of God. When we humans look at these things, it’s easy to label things as “bad.” There are many times we don’t fully understand the hand of God and what good things He’s trying to accomplish. God knows that when people are suffering, they turn their eyes above and seek someone who can help them. May we be reminded that this life is short. We are also longing for the day we get to see Jesus face to face as He returns to pick us up. So let us continue to be faithful servants, being on watch and doing what we’ve been called to do until our Master returns. He has called us to be faithful, to hold on to Jesus and to continue to witness His salvation to the ends of the earth. Jesus promises to return when the task of the Church is accomplished. So let us continue to be faithful to the very post our Lord Jesus Christ has called us to serve. Let us keep watch until our Master returns!
