Hi everyone,

Sharing a devotional with you today from Luke 7:11-17 – Even Before We Say a Word

The compassion Jesus showed to the widow who have just lost her son really touched me. As you can see in this passage, the widow didn’t ask Jesus for anything. She was mourning because her son just passed away and now she’s all on her own. Jesus saw the widow’s pitiful state and had compassion for her. Jesus reached out to her first because she even said a word. The widow neither spoke to Jesus nor did she approach Him or asked Him for anything. Jesus initiated this encounter, raised her son and gave him back to her.

I am so thankful to remember that our God is compassionate and often times acts and intervenes without us ever needing to speak a word. This is the love and the compassion of Jesus. May we be encouraged that our God always acts for our good. Even when we don’t say a word, Jesus already knows what we need. I am so thankful to have a loving relationship with a God who loves us and often times acts before we even say anything. Jesus coming to earth and dying on the cross for our sins before we even know who He is demonstrates His love and compassion for the world. May we continue to entrust our very lives to Him and have the assurance that God is always moving towards us because He desires to have a relationship with us. Even when we’re too weak to reach out to Him, Jesus reaches out to us. May this passage bless you today because Jesus doesn’t only knows what you need before you say a word, He will also act upon it.

Blessings,

Kelsey
