Hi Everyone,
Sharing a devotional with you from Luke 2:25-38
There are 2 people I want to highlight as we read this passage and that is Simeon and Anna. As we read, we can see that both Simeon and Anna have been waiting for the Messiah to come. They are both very old it says that it was revealed to Simeon that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah in verse 26 and in Anna’s case she was very old verse 36. Both of these people have ben waiting for years for Jesus to come! They both were waiting expectantly to see the Messiah that was going to come and when they see Him they praise God for the gift of salvation! Not only salvation for the Jews but for all. They both praised God that they had the gift of seeing the Messiah that was promised to the world!
I wonder what it must have been like to wait for years and years to see this promise fulfilled. Would Simeon and Anna become discouraged because they were getting up in age and have yet to see Jesus as promised? It amazes me that they continues to go to the temple each and everyday waiting and expecting to see Jesus face to face! Would they think it’s the day then turns out it wasn’t? This didn’t stop them from continuing to wait and expect the Messiah to come! Anna would be praying and fasting day and night! As we look at Simeon and Anna they were not lost in the waiting but they are expectantly waiting for the Messiah! In this season may we also be expectant to receive what Jesus wants to give us in this season as we look forward to His birth! May we also have this kind of expectant waiting when we are waiting for God to speak into a situation or circumstance. In the waiting may we have an expectancy that God will be there like how Simeon and Anna were waiting for Jesus! May we be waiting expectantly for Jesus to come again! Like Anna may we continue to do what Jesus has called us to do and be faithful to the call that Jesus has given us until the day He comes again!
Blessings,
Esther
