Hi everyone,

Sharing a devotional with you from Luke 17:7-10 – Doing our Duty

What stood out to me in this passage is to be reminded that we are servants. When servants are doing what they’re supposed to do, the master does not need to thank them for doing their tasks. In our world today, recognition is sought out by everyone because the concept of servanthood is foreign to many. In fact in the secular world this concept is not embraced at all. People do things to be recognized. They want people to acknowledge what they do and be praised for their service. They want to be thanked and to be put in a spotlight.

However, Jesus reminds us here that no matter what era we’re in, those who believe in Jesus are His servants. Christians are serving the Lord. When we are servants of Jesus, we are simply doing our duties. Whether it’s recognized or not, it’s what we’re supposed to do. The volunteer mentality we have nowadays is causing people to forget who they truly are. They stay if they like and leave if they don’t. That’s not how Christ has called us to live. May God remind us that we are His servants and we belong to Him. Being called to serve and to listen to our Master is who we are. Serving Christ is a privilege because we have a Master who loves us. May our service to Jesus bring us great joy!

Blessings,

Kelsey
