Hi everyone,
Sharing with you from Luke 1 – Mercy in Disguise
When Zechariah doubted after the angel’s proclamation, he was mute for the next 9 months until John was born. Many saw this as a horrible thing, not being able to speak for 9 months. It was inconvenient and Zechariah probably felt handicapped. Daily life things become significantly more difficult when your speech has been removed. However, I see this as a mercy in disguise. Throughout these 9 months, Zechariah was forced to work on his faith. Even though he couldn’t speak, he was able to draw closer to God than when he was able to speak. As God fulfills what He has promised, Zechariah begins to witness God’s love and power in his life. Until when John was finally born and named, he was able to speak again and he praised God. Sometimes we may encounter hardships in our lives. However, little do we know that maybe these hardships are the very things that will draw us closer to God. These struggles strengthen our faith. As we struggle through them, God will show us that He can be trusted always. Let’s look at the difficult situations in our life and think about what God is trying to teach us through it all. Our God is always good. May we continue to put our faith in God.
Blessings,
Kelsey
