Hi everyone,

Sharing a devotional with you from Jeremiah 52 – The Cost of Disobedience

What a sad chapter this was. Everything that the LORD said was happening right before their eyes. The lack of repentance from the king and from the people led to Judah’s destruction. God demonstrated His grace and mercy by warning them over and over again. He was sending prophets to to them, but they refused to listen. The city was destroyed, the temple was looted, the people were exiled and the king captured by the Babylonians. I cannot imagine the anguish when the king’s sons were slaughtered right before his very eyes. In that dire moment, I wonder if he finally realized his sin against the LORD Almighty? How much does it take for us to realize we have sinned against the LORD? The people were exiled and their lives changed forever.

Many times, it is in our most desperate state do our eyes open to see the LORD. It is in our most desperate times that we turn back to God. May we learn from this that no matter what happens, we will continue to listen to God and trust in Him. Let us not do anything we will regret later when we see the glory of Jesus when He stands before us. I pray that as we ponder on this passage, let us reflect upon our own lives. Is God speaking to us? Are we listening? Do we need God to take us down a tough journey in order for us to realize how we have fallen? I pray that will never the the case. The wise acts quickly and turns back to the LORD. May we be a wise person who builds our house on a rock.

Blessings,

Kelsey
