Hi all,

Sharing a devotional with you from Jeremiah 48:6-10 – In Whom do we Trust?

In whom do we trust? In verse 7, it talked about Moab trusting their deeds and riches instead of the LORD. People trust in certain things because it brings forth comfort and security. It is easy to trust in things that can bring value to our life. Money is a big one. People trust in money because it has value. The more you have, the more you can buy. That’s why so many have poured out their lives to earn more and more even though they already have more than enough. Money can drive people. This was the state of Moab as well. They had plenty of riches and they trusted in it. However, God definitely taught them a heavy lesson that this surely wasn’t the case. Heavily trusting in other things can hinder our trust for God. As I was reflecting, I was thinking if there is anything that I trust in this world more than God? Sometimes it’s easy to lose track of what’s truly important. Money comes and goes, and it’s not as trustworthy as people may think. Everything could be taken away in an instant just like what happened to Job. The one who is the most trustworthy is the sovereign and the all powerful God who does not change. Trusting in other things more than God is simply foolish. A question we can ask ourselves: Do we trust God above all things? I pray that I will always remember, no matter what season of life I may be going through, that I will always trust in the LORD. This is something I need to remember even more when God is blessing me tremendously. May my trust in Him never be substituted by any earthly thing.

Blessings,

Kelsey
