Wanted to share a devotional with you from Jeremiah 44 – Too Fallen
What saddens me would be how fallen God’s people had become. Even though with God continuously urging them to listen and to turn back, the people are stubborn and would rather continue to worship their false gods than to turn back to the real one. They even falsely thought that the real reason to their calamity is due to the fact they have stopped worshipping the Queen of Heaven. Not only were they blinded and believed in the wrong thing, they were so sure of themselves that they were right. They have fallen too far that and wouldn’t listen to anything Jeremiah says.
Thinking back to all those who reject God, the mindset is the same. People believe what they want to believe and try to make sense of it in their reality even though it couldn’t be further from the truth. May we not follow their footsteps. When God speaks, that is the one true and only reality we need to hold on to whether or not it is to our liking. We have to differentiate truth from feelings. May God be merciful to us and teach us to only believe in and to listen to His truth. When we listen and obey, that shows our belief in God. When we don’t, it shows our disbelief and that’s how slowly people fall away from having a loving relationship with God. Disbelief in Jesus is increasing in the world. May we guard our relationship with Jesus always so that we won’t experience the same fallenness as the Chosen people of God. May we not be swayed by the beliefs of our society, community who have rejected Jesus and live contrary to His teaching. May we learn from this passage that only through believing in God we will truly have life.
