Sharing a devotional with you from Jeremiah 36 – Disregarding God’s Word
The lack of fear of the LORD and the lack of repentance demonstrated by the king and his attendants are the most heart breaking. When the leaders of the nation doesn’t fear God and even goes against God, there is little hope left for the nation. The people are pitiful when the the ruler lives and acts against God. Even though initially there were some who responded in fear, that has come to an end when the king burned God’s word. This is proof of a living defiance against God, casting God aside and disregarding His word. May we not treat God’s word with contempt but to hold on to it dearly in our hearts so we will never cast God out from our lives. May we learn from this situation and respond in a correct manner by offering God the worship He deserves.
In the same manner, we pray that both our government and those leading us will continue to hold on to God’s word and not disregard it. May we be a nation that glorifies God in our decisions and how we’re moving forward.
