Psalms 56:1-4 NIV
“Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack. My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
The global pandemic has been around for more than a year now. It does not seem getting any way ahead. People feel helpless and hopeless. May God has mercy on this land.
During the time of adversity, David wrote Psalms 56. David was God’s chosen leader, but he was being hunted by King Saul. While he was fleeing for his life. He prayed to God. He told God honestly about his disturbed emotion and worries. “For my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack. My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me.” These weary did not border David too long. He prayed that “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid.” He put his trust in God, he did not afraid. Instead, he praised God for His faithfulness and loving care.
When we are going through difficult times or uncertain future, we are weary, disturbed and afraid, because we do not know when and how the difficult situations will end. Will we pray like David did? “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Fully put your trust in God, live out your life positively as should be, experience God’s protection. “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;” (2 Corinthians 4:8 NIV). In all situations and circumstances, may God strengthen our faith, fill us with joy in His presence.
