Proverbs 14:33 NIV
“Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known.”

“Pride brings loss, humility brings benefit” is a remindful statement, meaning that people who are pride and boastful suffer loss, whereas those who are humble are people with benefit. The benefits for people with humility are obvious, we need to be mindful and discipline ourselves that we can really live our life with humility.

“The wise fear the Lord and shun evil, but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure.” (Proverbs 14:16 NIV) It describes those humble people are wise people, they do not over-estimate themselves, they safe guard their reaction, they reject evil things. Contrary, those who are prideful, they thought that they are superior to others, in fact, they are foolish. Foolish people do not realize that they do not know a lot of things. Hence, they will not humble themselves, they will not seek counsel, will not seek help, will not research and will not learn. Wise people understand that they do not know lots of thing. Humbly, they will seek counsel, to seek help, to research and to learn. Humble people will listen to ideas, they will not be judgmental. This is the essence of wisdom, the integrity of the wise.

“For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”” (Luke 14:11 NIV). The fool will try to proof themselves as superior, they thought that they know everything. They end up being forced to step down. People respect humble people, they will be exalted. Jesus Christ is a good example on being humble and gentle. We need to walk humbly with our God. This is what we need to do when we are building relationship with people. Humility builds up teams. We understand that we do not know all things. The wise will not over-estimate themselves, they listen, they learn, they have the desire to grow. May we all learn to discipline and become people with wisdom.
