1 Timothy 4:7-9 NIV
“Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance.”

Godliness is demonstrated through Godly life of Christian. They have faith in God, trust and obey, worship God in Spirit and in truth. Physical training requires disciplined exercises. It helps to strengthen the body systems to function well. It benefits the physical health and mental health. However, the benefit of physical training is limited to our life on earth only. “But godliness has value for all things.” When we train up ourselves with Godliness, in addition to doing things which are reasonable, logical and legal, we will do it according to the pleasing will of God. We will not do as everyone is doing, our value system will not be influenced by the world view. Contrary, we will be more sober and alert, by the power of God, we will have victory over temptation and stay away from the evil one.

There are quietness, peace and joy with Godly Christian. They do not afraid or frighten because of the indwell of the Holy Spirit and the presence of God. “Train yourself to be godly” requires intentionality and submissive to the will of God. The Godly Christian is wise and powerful. To enjoy our life now and having the eternal hope, it is such a blessing to live out the Godly life.
