Deuteronomy 4:23-24 NIV
“Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden. For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.”

We all know and understand “God is Love”. This is a true fact. God cares for us. He gives all the blessings to us. Nevertheless, we are spoiled and we take these for granted which displeases God.

Moses Knew God and he understood God’s mighty power. Moses was fully aware of what things were pleasing to God and what were the requirements from God. Moses did not want the Israelites to forget the teaching and instructions and requirements from God. Again and again he reminded his people to be faithful to God, Jehovah. It was not allowed to worship their self-made idols. Although the Israelites have experienced God’s miracles personally. They were set free from slavery in Egypt. They were moving towards the promise land, Canaan, the land of milk and honey. However, there were times they were lack of faith, they complained, they disobeyed God and wandered away. Moses told them to be faithful and obedient to God, not to make idols to replace God, otherwise, they were inviting trouble for themselves. “For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.“

Similarly, we are children of God, we have experienced God’s abundant grace and blessings. We know that God is true and God is real. We have to keep it all the way, trust and obey all the days of our life, live out the God pleasing lifestyle. We can stay away from the wrath of God’s consuming fire, and we can glorify our Father in Heaven through our testimonies.

May God give us wisdom and strength that we can enjoy the richness of being alert and sober.
