Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a devotional with you from Ecclesiastes 8:16-17 – Can We Fully Comprehend?

16 When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to observe the labor that is done on earth—people getting no sleep day or night— 17 then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all their efforts to search it out, no one can discover its meaning. Even if the wise claim they know, they cannot really comprehend it.

Verses 16-17 stood out to me. It reminds us how limited we are. Although we can claim we know what’s going on, Solomon reminds us that we cannot really fully comprehend all of it. As wise as Solomon was, he realized he can never fully understand what God’s doing in all the earth and its purpose behind everything. This simply reminds us that the things we see right now may only be a small portion of what’s really going on in the mind of God. May we trust the one who knows it all, the one who truly comprehends is still good and sovereign.

This is a good reminder for all of us especially during this pandemic. We may not fully understand what’s going through the mind of God, but we can trust this is the path He is leading us through. Through His wisdom, we may see only a glimpse or a portion of it, but as Solomon reminds us, no one can fully comprehend the mind of God. So it is okay not to fully understand. In fact we need to come to terms with the fact that we are indeed limited. Sometimes even though we think we know, we may know less than we think. That is why we need to trust in God in all matters because He is the only one who truly fully understands what is happening. May this truth give us the strength and the confidence to keep living day by day, trusting in God’s guidance and provision that we will indeed get through this difficult time. May God reveal to us even a glimpse to His glorious plan so that our faith may be refined and strengthened as we continue to trust God in all things.

Blessings,

Kelsey
