Hi everyone,
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
Sharing a devotional with you from Ecclesiastes 6 – True Prosperity
Usually as we read through Ecclesiastes, we may become more discouraged as Solomon shares his wisdom with us through the things he’s pondering about. We’re now on chapter 6 where Solomon talks about another evil under the sun that affects humanity and that is the inability to enjoy all the blessings from God because our days are numbered. We may have toiled hard and have everything in the world, but one day we will all pass away and can no longer enjoy them. With everything fleeting away and our days are numbered like the passing of a shadow, it is difficult to know what is actually good for a person during our short days on earth. We may work hard just to enjoy the fruit of our labour, but once we die, we all go to the same place.
This reminds us that life is fleeting away and we really need to prioritise how we ought to live and what to really focus on. May God be the very purpose of our lives so we will not become discouraged by the fact that we are surrounded by things that are temporary and are fleeting away including our earthly bodies. The earthly prosperity we are working so hard for will one day be gone. So let us focus on things above and the treasures we can store up in heaven because those things will last forever. This is the true prosperity that will last forever. The life to come in heaven spent with our Lord Jesus Christ is what’s going to last forever. So let us be reminded of that, to seek His Kingdom first and to fear the Lord. If we maintain our primary focus on Jesus, loving Him and living for Him, we are indeed building up a prosperity that will last forever. The Lord will reward us according to what we have done in His name. May we invest in Jesus and what He wants us to do. May the Lord bless you with true prosperity as you do so. Let us start off this new year strong by fixating our eyes on Jesus.
Blessings,
Kelsey
