Romans 12:3-5 NIV
“For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
Apostle Paul encouraged believers of Jesus Christ to be sober and alert, have unity, not boasting. Christians should complement one another; all the talents and gifts are given to everyone according to God’s own will. “Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.” We should take all these with thankfulness and obedience, including talents and gifts, faith and physical strength, etc, etc. We should be contented and serving with diligence. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, as long as we are doing it with division of labor, complementary to each other, there will be advantages and benefits for the whole community.
We can see there are differences in every individual, such as hobbies, intelligence, personality, temperament, as so on. Living together with all these differences is not easy. If people are self-centered, pride and stubborn, the interpersonal relationship will not be good nor in harmony. The real Christians who have Jesus Christ in their lives, we understand that we are body of Christ. Although each part is different, each part is as important and the other. Every part connects with each other and function well in harmony. The power of the collective effort is
magnificent. Whenever we think of ourself with sober judgement, humility, obedience and love one another are easily identified by other people. these are the things which God has commanded us to live out. These are the most powerful testimony to demonstrate that we have Jesus Christ in our life.
