Hi Everyone,

Sharing a devotional with you today from Acts 16: 16-26

We read that Paul and Silas has been going around the town preaching and teaching, a slave girl making remarks about Paul and Silas as well as fortune telling for her masters to make them money. Paul then gets annoyed with the spirit and commands it to come out and it does. We learn that Paul and Silas was brought before the magistrate and beaten then thrown in jail because it made the slave girl’s owners angry. In jail Paul and Silas did not stop worshiping and praying, even tough their situation was not ideal. The other jailers were their listening to Paul and Silas worshiping, I’m just imagining what was going through their minds as they hear Paul and Silas singing and praying. then an earth quake and doors opened and chains fell, imagine the look on the face of the other prisoners in the jail along with Paul and Silas. What great faith Paul and Silas have as they are praying and singing hymns even though they are in jail. What faith Paul needed in order to be able to cast out that spirit from the girl and being beaten and put in jail, his faith is still strong. Do we have that kind of faith when things don’t go the way we planned or when we are put into situations where we need to stand in faith? May this encourage you to see that in every situation we can still have faith and know that God is right there with us as we trust in Him!

Blessings,

Esther
