Sharing a Devotional with you from Proverbs 2:
What encourages me from this passage is that the LORD gives wisdom. To fear the LORD by following His instruction is where wisdom lies. We can always approach God and ask for wisdom. He has also given us His wisdom through His word which we are so privileged to have. Since God is the wisest, we shouldn’t be surprised that His commands and decrees are good for us to follow. We see in the passage that wisdom can help us by guarding us, protecting us and shielding us from harm. It also gives us success and life. Following wisdom will surely save us from many things.
However, on the flip side, not listening to Him will lead us down a dangerous and destructive path. The contrast is like night and day. I’m sure we too have already experienced that in our lives when we don’t heed the words of God and end up suffering for it. Even though God’s instructions are clear and the consequences clearly listed if we don’t listen, sometimes we still have a tendency to want to rebel and not heed His warning. There’s something about our rebellious nature that we really need to surrender to God. May we seek His wisdom today, so that in all things we can live to give Him glory and experiencing the blessing He has prepared for us. May we continue to fear the LORD by following His words and in turn experience true life the LORD wants us to have in Him. God’s word is more precious than gold, so let us in turn treat it like so.
