Sharing a devotional with you from Matthew 11:28-30 – Rest
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
How many of us are feeling burdened and tired? I think many of us can relate especially with this pandemic dragging on for so many months now. We’re tired of this pandemic. We want to have our normal lives back. We want to hang out with our friends. We want to go out to do things. Going through this challenging time can really take a toll on us. We’re worried and anxious for our finances, for our health and for our future. Even if many of us are restricted in our homes, it doesn’t make our lives any less busy. All in all, it has been a difficult time and we have become weary and burdened.
However, this is the time that we have to remember to find rest in Jesus. Jesus promised us that if we go to Him, our burdens will become easy and light. This does not mean our lives will become less challenging, but Jesus promised to walk with us. He’s going to empower us, granting us peace because we are reminded that He is always good and sovereign. Knowing this, Jesus becomes our hope. We know that His plans are always moving forward. That’s why we can have peace and joy no matter what situation we’re in because Jesus is with us. That’s how He gives us rest and lightens our burdens. May we always be reminded to rest in Jesus in times of great difficulty because He alone can grant us comfort, peace and strength to tackle each day. His strength and grace is always enough for us. May the Lord bless you as you rest in Him always.
