Lamentations 3:22-24
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

When we encounter extended length of time in hardship, weary, anxiousness, hopelessness and other things may set in to affect us. To move out of the depressed valley, we need positive energy with faith and perseverance. When there is will, there is way.

Israelites knew and experienced God’s mighty power deeply. The defeat of Judah, the Southern Kingdom brought them into slavery. The prophet Jeremiah wrote The Book of Lamentations, in the format of five poems to describe the lament and hope of the holy city of Jerusalem. In the 66 verses in Chapter 3, it was put into sections of 3 verses each to point out the punishment, the repentance and the hope for the people. In verses 22-24, Jeremiah recounted that God’s faithfulness and love were never end. Although Israelites were in a severe suffering time, they were not consumed, they had hope. “I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” (3:24) God was with them, they had inheritance in heaven. Whatever they were facing on earth was temporary. They had hope and trust that God would provide and care for them.

We are living in a difficult time. We need to be reminded that God’s love and mercy do not change. Great is His faithfulness, He is always able to carry us through.
